Fix “BOOTMGR is missing” error after cloning to SSD

bootmgr-is-missingI was cloning a hard drive to SSD the other day when I experienced a “BOOTMGR is missing” error and thought something had just gone wrong with the clone.  I proceeded to clone it again but to no avail.   I’ve cloned about a dozen of hard drives to SSDs without any issues until now but I had a feeling this was a common problem.  Microsoft has a great support article on fixing this issue and gives you four methods.  I used method #1 requiring a Windows Install disk.

As you can tell from a previous article, I’m a fan of SSD drives in desktops and laptops because they will not only speed up your computer, but also can extend the “perceived” life of your system.
